While they’re best known for cheap flights and wide destination coverage, easyJet’s position as a budget airline also means they have to factor in some additional costs.

Just as Ryanair baggage prices can accumulate if you’re not aware of the different rules and charges, easyJet also has its own rules.
“easyJet treats a handbag, small backpack, or laptop bag as your single small cabin bag allowance. It must fit under the seat in front of you, so anything more would usually require extra baggage allowance.”
While none of these charges are hidden as such, there are a few that you might expect to be complimentary, so it’s always worth checking this list before you fly with easyJet.

easyJet Seating Charges
Seats on easyJet flights can fill up quickly, making it a bit more competitive to choose where you sit. If you’re hoping to sit with friends or family, you can reserve seats in advance for a fee of £20, so you won’t be split up during boarding.
If you’re flying with children younger than two, there’s an additional charge of £25. This way, you travel with the child on your lap, and the arrangements are in place for a smoother journey. You can bring an extra baby-changing bag (45 x 36 x 20 cm), but this has to go under the seat in front of you.
For those looking for a bit more comfort, front row seats or over-wing options with extra leg room are a good choice. However, these don’t have a fixed price. The cost can vary depending on the specific flight, demand, and availability. It’s worth checking early if you have a preference.
easyJet Baggage Fees
When it comes to baggage fees, things get a touch more complicated.
- Cabin bags can weigh up to 15kg.
- A small cabin bag must be no more than 45 x 36 x 20 cm.
- Large cabin bags have a maximum of 56 x 45 x 25 cm, fees apply.
Every customer is entitled to take one 45x36x20cm cabin bag on board free of charge. These measurements include handles and wheels.
easyJet Plus members and customers who’ve booked an Inclusive Plus fare can take a large cabin bag (56 x 45 x 25cm) on board for free. This can be in addition to a small cabin bag, but the maximum number of cabin bags is 2 for everyone.
You can purchase your hold bags during booking, or in advance of your flight. They can weigh up to 15kg, 23kg, 26kg, 29kg, or a maximum of 32kg. If you arrive with a bag that isn’t pre-booked, there’s a £55 bag drop fee at the airport. If your bag is pre-booked but heavier than the weight you purchased in advance, there’s an excess weight fee of £12 per kilo.
When we reached out to easyJet, they confirmed there was no flat rate for hold luggage, but that it depends on your route, flight and time of booking. It’s best to keep your bag light, and measure it in advance to avoid fees at the airport.
easyJet Cancellation Charges
If you decide you don’t want a flight within 24 hours of your booking, you’re able to cancel your booking for a cost of £49 online or £55 via phone.

However, if you leave it longer than 24 hours, you won’t be able to get a refund.
easyJet Booking Change Charges
If you need to change your details or the flight you’ve booked, fees vary based on the specific thing you need to change.
We’ve done our best to explain each fee below.
| Charge | Online Cost | Call Centre Cost | Explanation |

easyJet FAQs
A cabin bag is brought on the plane with you. Smaller bags can go under your seats, where larger ones will go in the overhead lockers. Hold luggage is stored in the plane’s hold, to be collected at Baggage Claim.
Yes, but it depends on your ticket type. Standard easyJet fares usually include only one small cabin bag (which must fit under the seat in front of you). If you want to bring both a rucksack and a larger cabin bag, you’ll typically need to add a paid cabin bag option or have a seat upgrade that includes overhead locker space.
Yes. easyJet treats a handbag, small backpack, or laptop bag as your single small cabin bag allowance. It must fit under the seat in front of you, so anything more would usually require extra baggage allowance.
If your cabin bag is over the size limit, even slightly, easyJet may ask you to put it in the hold and charge a gate baggage fee. This is often more expensive than pre-booking luggage, so it’s best to check your bag size carefully before travelling.
A camera bag can be taken as your small cabin bag as long as it fits within the size allowance. If you already have a cabin bag or other hand luggage, it would need to be combined into your single permitted item unless you’ve purchased additional baggage allowance.
